Laurence Green
Hi, my name is Laurence Green and I've been interested in creative writing from an early age but didn't start to write seriously until I discovered that when you find one idea, it quickly leads to another and then another - and the only way to keep control of those thoughts is to capture them in a book. That's something I've been trying to do ever since.
The books I write draw on my experiences of living in and around Sheffield, reflecting the places I've been and the people I've met and they try to pull something out of that which is genuine, exciting and engaging without being graphic.
I hope you take the journey with Charlie and Eddie. Enjoy the ride.
In 2024 I introduced a new character - Eddie Reynolds, escapologist (and womaniser) - who was inspired by a story told within my family. The stories start in the 1930's, a fragile time for world economies and world peace and a time when the art of the theatre and magic performers is under the greatest threat from cinema, radio - and TV.
Initially, Charlie Baxter isn’t either a Private investigator or even Charlie Baxter. He’s Charles Backley, stuck in a dull IT job in a secondary school, with a gambling habit that is beginning to trouble him. Things change when he returns home to find three men waiting inside his house.
His life changes from there on, and the adventures of Charlie Baxter, Private Investigator, begin.
